SIPP Hub helps Ellevio transition from scheduled to predictive maintenance
At local Swedish energy company Härryda Energi, one of the key objectives is to deliver safe and secure electricity to approximately 15,000 customers. This includes working sustainably, but at the same time effectively using the skills and resources available within their own organization. Härryda Energi has been using Gomero's control equipment, SIPP, for ten years in relation to monitoring and emptying the substations' transformer bunds. This has resulted in a time saving of at least three working weeks per year.
One of Härryda Energi's guiding principles is to automate work procedures that do not require qualified personnel on site. Modernizing and developing the electricity network both technically and economically are also driving factors.
Pontus Claesson, coordinator for operation and maintenance at Härryda Energi, comments on the improvements that are gained from deploying around ten SIPPs:
“The biggest advantage is that we now have automated monitoring, which in practice means that we don't have to think very much about measuring and emptying our oil transformer bunds. Instead of sending out an electrician for frequent physical visits, we now have full control 24/7. Occasionally filters and measuring cells will need to be changed, but otherwise most things happen automatically.”
“Even though monitoring and emptying the oil transformer bunds is a relatively small part of our business, it has to work. Here, SIPP makes a big difference in our business operations. With the control equipment, we get more time to focus on important day-to-day tasks in the knowledge that we always have excellent control and can prevent oil leaks.”
Today, SIPP is used by more than 100 companies in nine countries, from small local players to large international electricity companies.
“We are relatively small and have a workforce of around thirty employees, therefore it is particularly important that resources can be freed up for business critical tasks. We are looking to avoid employees getting slowed down and hindered in time-consuming manual work which can be automated”, continues Pontus Claesson.
“When it comes to SIPP, we also get very responsive support from Gomero. They are always on top of things and give quick answers both to me as the customer and to our people in the field. In addition, we have the SIPP app that helps us quickly identify our current status so that we can, for example, determine when it is time to order a new filter”, Pontus Claesson concludes.

SIPP is connected technology for predictive maintenance and the environmentally safe management of oil leakage from transformers. It detects oil leakage from the substation, checks that the oil transformer bund is watertight, and while emptying water from the transformer bund ensures no transformer oil escapes into the environment. The SIPP system is monitored 24/7 all year round. SIPP has digital process support for installation and predictive maintenance via web interface and app, including interfaces for integration with the customer's business and maintenance systems.
By using predictive maintenance at substations large parts of the maintenance process change for the better. By using connected products, sensors, AI and data analysis, maintenance work can be carried out optimally and with a significantly higher degree of automation. The environment also benefits if physical maintenance visits are minimized. Smarter and more efficient maintenance also contributes to increasing the lifespan of existing facilities and equipment.
